Transitioning from a balance bike to a 12" pedal bike can be difficult for both kids and parents. The seat height and angle on these bikes are especially important, as young riders may not yet know how to stand up and pedal. That's why we've designed our bikes with a flat, padded seat and a quick release seat clamp with a longer seat post, to make it easy to adjust on the fly. We also believe it's important for kids to learn how to use hand brakes as soon as possible, rather than relying on coaster brakes. Anyone who's ever jumped off a curb and landed with the coaster brake on knows how easy it is to go over the handlebars!
