Summer Riding & Winter Fat Biking
Summer Rides
Bring a mountain bike for the dirt singletrack, or choose wider shared paths for a gentler outing. Start with a short route and add more riding as your group gets comfortable. An easy path does not mean every connecting trail has the same difficulty.
Slow down near walkers, trail junctions, and viewpoints. Give wet trails time to dry before riding.
Winter Fat Biking
Settlers Bay can be a good fat-bike option when the snow is firm and routes are packed. The Borough aims to groom trails as snow conditions allow; grooming coverage and surface conditions can change.
Check recent updates, let freshly groomed snow set, and turn back if your tires leave ruts. Keep clear of any set ski tracks.
Getting There & Parking
From Knik-Goose Bay Road, turn onto Settlers Bay Drive. The park has two main parking areas. Choose your entrance before you head out.
West Parking Lot
The easiest starting point for the accessible bluff trail and viewing platform. Follow Settlers Bay Drive south, then east to the end of the road and the parking gate, approximately two miles from Knik-Goose Bay Road.
East Parking Lot
After about half a mile on Settlers Bay Drive, take the first left onto its northern branch. Continue approximately one mile, past Frontier Drive, to the end of the developed road and the gated parking area.
Settlers Bay Coastal Park is owned and managed by the Mat-Su Borough. Great Land Trust and the Mat-Su Trails & Parks Foundation have helped conserve the land and improve public access. Supporting local conservation and trail projects helps keep places like this available to everyone.
